A mix of the old Yellow nine hole course with nine new holes added, the Vale do Lobo Royal received its inauguration in 1997. Sir Henry Cotton has done a great job making full use of the natural terrain adding to it fairways dotted with bunkers and the odd lake or two for good measure. It is also home to one of the most photographed holes in the game in the guise of the 16th with a long carry over the cliff tops to a tricky green, not a hole for the faint hearted. Vale do Lobo Royal course is located 16 kilometres east of Vilamoura.
